Angry What does it take to keep things peaceful?

Is there a way to avoid controversy? Everyone has a difference of opinion but how does someone keep peace in an environment where everyone is different culturally, morally and physically? I ask myself these questions when I see violence in all shapes and sizes that plague earth. Things like religion. Are they really worth fighting for? My answer is no. But what about the violence that happens as a result of something like religion? Should we get involved or mind our own business? Should we make fun of someone that can't spell, swim or is in a wheel chair? Should we call small people midgets? Now the rancid N-word. What about that word? How come black people can say it but if a white person says it then what? I know what.. I think you do too. Words can't break your bones but they can shatter a relationship. And words that disagree are simply differences of opinion, so how does this result in non-peaceful ways? I have never been able to avoid conflict because I am a person that will tell you just exactly what is on my mind. It doesn't mean I want to fight you; it just means I disagree. The disagreement in one's belief can have catastrophic consequence. So how do things stay peaceful? I guess they don't.

    Someone save this place.

I agree it's hard to keep peace when people have such great differences of opinion, especially when it comes to religion (or politics). I think the important thing to remember is to say your opinion diplomatically without criticizing the other side. Also, if people can control their anger, then that goes a long way. Finally, if people learned the fine skill of compromise, this world would definitely be a better place.
