    Smile Search feature on KYP

Hey guys I was just thinking that it would be real cool if you could search within a department on your website. For example, be able to search within the chemistry department within a specific school. Just an idea. I know that you can click on a department next to a prof's name and get the list. But if there's nobody on the page that is in the department you want, you have to keep going through each page until you find one. Thanks!

Did you try the current search function? It will search that school for the name no matter what dept they are in!

Yes I tried that and it works great. What I meant was - say you wanted to look through a department, for example, chemistry. If you go to your school, and look through the A to Z list of all professors, their department is listed next to them. If you find a teacher by browsing that is in the chemistry department, you can click on chemistry, and you will get a list of all teachers within the chemistry department. But what if you are browsing and there is not a teacher on the first couple of pages with the department you want? So I was thinking that if you had a "Search for Department" function, that would be cool. To illustrate my point, today I was wanting to look for a teacher within Microbiology, but I forgot the teacher's name. So I was scrolling through all of the teachers on the list looking for one within microbiology so I could click on "Microbiology" and see a list of all teachers within that department. But there wasn't a microbiology teacher for a long time, so that's what gave me the idea.

It's not crucial, and I already think your website kicks a$$, so don't worry about it if it is too much of a pain.

Mocos I think that it is an idea that we can do. Like an advanced search feature maybe? The only thing is at the moment we have a lot more crucial updates that we need to focus on before this but I will add it to the list for the near future. Great idea and keep it coming.

For now you can click on the word department and it will organize the professors by department alphabetically. Again I will work towards bringing an advanced search feature for everyone.
Know Your Professor BEFORE you pick them!!
